New reports are indicating that three men connected to the murder of Coke Boys rapper Lionel “Chinx” Pickens have been taken into custody after NYPD’s swat team raided a home at 2436 Beach Channel Drive in Far Rockaway, Queens at 12:45 p.m. on May 17th.
This occured just hours after Chinx was murdered. Police are still on the hunt for the shooter. Sources say that the men were arrested for stealing a car in Bayswater, and were chased to that location by police officers. Sources are also saying the two cases are connected and that the shooters were seeking to steal a car to leave the area.
Chinx has been married to his widow Janelli Pickens for eight years, and they have two daughters and a son together. In a statement with EyeWitness News, Pickens stated, “It is a hard time, we are going through a lot. It’s a very devastating situation, his kids are greatly affected by all this. They don’t quite understand, but it will hit them soon. For his son, who doesn’t understand why God’s angels have come and taken his father, he just wants to know when he’s going to bring him back, and it’s hard, it’s very hard. A lot of people don’t understand that this was his life, was his family.”
Pickens also stated that she was going to go out to the club with her husband that evening, and would have been in the same car that he was killed in, but decided to stay home because she was tired. After leaving the club, Chinx was headed to a bar with his friend Yemen, who is also a member of the Coke Boys, but got there after it was closed. It was then that Chinx drove his friend to a nearby subway station in Queens when the deadly encounter took place on Queens Boulevard.
