The beef between Troy Ave and Joey Bada$$ has been brewing for awhile now. However, it reached new heights when Troy Ave responded to Joey’s diss track “Ready” by dropping his own diss track named “Bad A*s”.

On “Bad A*s”, as to be expected, Troy throws a number of shots Joey’s way, even rapping that Joey has a “drug addict face”. But Troy took things too far when he made a reference to former Pro Era rapper Capital Steez who committed suicide in 2012. Troy rapped, “Don’t be suicidal like ya friend / It’s a casket / Steez burning in hell, my burners on my belt.” This rubbed many members of the Hip Hop community the wrong, including Styles P and Royce Da 5’9.

In a recent interview with Complex, Royce explained that he believed that Troy Ave took it too far stating, “There’s a line with anything in life, and [Troy Ave] most certainly, absolutely crossed the line. What did these guys really do to each other, to warrant you [thinking] that it’s okay for you to be able to say that? Troy Ave, if you’re listening you owe Capital Steez’s family an apology. It’s just that simple.”

He continued, “You’ve got to be a man and admit when you’re wrong about something. Suicide is a very, very serious thing. It’s not a sign of weakness. There’s nothing cool about the way Troy Ave handled that situation. The kid can rap, why can’t he just rap and say what he has to say about Joey Bada$$? There’s nothing gangsta about that and I don’t support it.”

Do you agree?
