One of the easiest ways to offend a rapper is to assume that they don’t write their own raps. But leave it to Hot 97’s Ebro to take it there anyway. After Complex listed Rae Sremmurd’s “Scremmlife” album as one of the top Hip Hop projects of 2015, Ebro slammed the brothers and accused them of having a ghostwriter pen their material.
Ebro stated, “They didn’t write that sh*t. Any of it. Maybe some of it. Mike WiLL Made-It — you know that his name is ‘Mike WiLL-Made It?’ He made that album. They’re Kriss Kross. It was a fabricated thing that we all liked.” Mike WiLL, the duo’s mentor, immediately took offense and hopped onto Twitter to address the claims, tweeting, “If Sremm didn’t write they raps, who the f— did?” Ebro later shot back tweeting, “Drummer’s Ear & you…and them some. Stop it.”
In a new interview with The Fader, Sremm addressed the allegations once and for all, “It’s such a false statement. Where’d it come from? You pulled it out your as*. If you want to know who wrote my sh*t, go to my album credits.”
