Offset’s mom sets the record straight on Takeoff’s absence from the AMA’s.
On Tuesday, Migos attended the American Music Awards, where they won an award for Favorite Duo/Group in the Pop/Rock category. As the Atlanta group took the stage to accept their award, Takeoff was noticeably absent.(Takeoff also failed to attend MTV’s Video Music Awards this year.) Immediately, fans began to suggest that Takeoff was no longer a part of the group.
But according to Offset’s mother, Latabia Woodward, Takeoff has stepped away from the spotlight for a bit to focus on the release of his solo album. On Instagram, a fan wrote the following comment about the status of Migos, “So it’s just 2 now? Quavo solo? #Migos congratulations guys!”
Woodward replied back, “It’s still 3 of them. Take is working on his solo album which releases soon after Quavo’s. Each of them are releasing solo projects.”
Following the release of Migos’ Culture II, fans came to the conclusion that Takeoff stole the spotlight on the album. During an interview with Hypebeast, Quavo explained why Takeoff is the most low-key member of the group, “He likes to work and mind his business. He doesn’t like to be involved in a lot of things, he just just likes to make good music for the people.”
