Offset’s lawyer says he was profiled.

On Saturday, Offset was thrown in jail after cops pulled him over for an alleged illegal lane change in Atlanta, Georgia. After stopping the “Versace” rapper, police decided to search his vehicle after detecting a strong marijuana order. Upon searching Offset’s 2014 Porshe Carrera, police found three handguns, more than $107,000 in cash, and some marijuana.

According to Offset lawyer, Drew Findling, his client was simply arrested for “driving while black.” Findling says if the police really did smell marijuana, they would’ve ordered Offset out of the car to complete a field sobriety test, however, they failed to do so – leading Findling to believe that they targeted Offset.

Apparently, the police report doesn’t mention Offset being impaired, or suspected impairment. Findling added that Offset was also targeted because “he’s a rich, young, black rapper wearing a big fat watch and was driving an expensive car.” He says the goal was to “take him down.”

Offset, who is a convicted felon, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a weapon during a crime, possession of marijuana (one ounce or less), and an improper lane change.

Stay tuned for updates on this case.
