Ninety’s boy band New Kids On the Block will be touring this summer with special guests TLC and Nelly. The Main Event tour will begin May 1 at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center. Tickets will go on sale January 31. American Express card members can purchase tickets in advance on January 23.
NKOTB band member Donnie Walberg stated “We always have something special up our sleeves. Our fans keep asking us to come back out on the road, and we want to keep giving them what they want!” Walberg continued saying “We wanted to make sure it was something new and fresh and fun and totally worthwhile for all our supporters year after year. This year, we are making it the Main Event. And we promise, it will be the ticket of the summer.”
The group recently appeared on Good Morning America to promote their tour, and was joined by TLC’s Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins. They revealed they would be donating $10,000 to TLC’s Kickstarter fund for their upcoming final album under one condition – TLC does a duet with them.
In 2013, both groups performed at the Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania. That’s when the initial idea of heading on the road together came about. TLC’s T-Boz stated “We all fell in love at that time and that’s when the ideas started to brew. When our manager called us, we were like ‘Hell yeah.’ I think it’s a perfect combination.”
Nelly is currently overseas working in Japan, but sent a special video message stating “Sorry I couldn’t be there right now. I’m currently in Japan performing for our troops. But I will be on ‘The Main Event’ tour with the homies New Kids on the Block and the homegirls TLC. That’s right, so make sure y’all come—show out.”
TLC took to Twitter this week to announce their return with a Kickstarter fund album because they “wanted [their] fans to be involved” in their music.
