Meek has let us down once again. On Saturday, Funkmaster Flex announced that Meek Mill would be on his show Monday at 7 p.m. to drop a new track and respond to Drake’s diss track “Charged Up”. Fans patiently waited for hours on Monday to hear what the Dreams Worth More Than Money emcee had to say. It soon became obvious that Meek was a no show and this enraged many fans who tweeted their frustration. What really made fans mad was the fact that Meek remained silent about the ordeal instead of giving his fans an explanation.
He even poked fun at the situation by posting a video on his Twitter that featured a new song titled “Beautiful Night (Drake Diss)” that turned out to be a hoax that featured someone obnoxiously screaming throughout the entire clip. This sent one fan over the edge, causing him to launch an online petition to have Funk Flex resign from his position at the New York radio station. The petition raked in 3,800 of the required 5,000 signatures. Take a look at the petition below.
“There has always been word that DJ Funk Funkmaster Flex was not someone who was willing to give up his position at Hot 97 for his slot. Despite constant critiques from everywhere for the old man to step down, and give the younger people a shot he decided to stay where he was. Last year Dame Dash was at the forefront of the movement saying that Funk Flex really needs to just leave. Well, today was the last straw. This fraud of a DJ decided to lie to everyone for ratings and downloads of the Hot 97 app that Meek Mill would be on tonight to release a diss track to Drake to no avail. No one has given Hot 97 two hours of listening time since Biggie was alive, and it’s a crime to have taken that from us. The people have spoken and it is time for Funk Flex to step down.”
