Macklemore pays tribute to Mac Miller.
Sadly, last week, it was revealed that Mac Miller had passed away at his home after a suspected overdose. Following news of his death, hundreds of tributes poured in – and they have yet to let up.
A few days ago, one of Miller’s good friends, Mackelmore’s, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, where he praised the SWIMMING rapper for being there for him while he struggled with his own addiction. In addition, Mackelmore encouraged anyone struggling with an addiction to reach out for help and talk to someone.
“Such a genuine person. Brilliant sense of humor. A true artist. Your spirit is what impressed me the most. The energy you brought to any space you were in. Contagious. You reached out to me at times when others didn’t. You were human. And we shared the same disease. A disease that is out to kill us, and when left untreated eventually will.”
The “Marmalade” rapper continued, “I’m shaken. Shaken that someone who had such a light can be taken from this world so easily. It could have been me too many times to count. On the surface people that appear to have it all, are not exempt from the gravity and cunning nature of this disease.”
On September 7, Mac Miller’s lifeless body was found in his San Fernando Valley, California home. While it is suspected that Miller died from an drug overdose, (a small amount of white powder was found) no evidence of significant drug use was found. Local authorities believe his home was swept clean of any evidence of drugs before they arrived.
