Yesterday was a sad day for the Harris family. Love and Hip Hop: New York star Mendeecees Harris has officially turned himself in at FCI Allenwood Federal Prison in Pennsylvania. Harris was sentenced to 8 years in prison after pleading guilty for his connection to a drug ring that transported cocaine and heroin from New York City to the Rochester area. Harris has already served 15 months in prison, so he has less than seven years to serve. Hopefully, with good behavior he is granted an early release. Harris’ wife Yandy plans on transferring him to a facility closer to New York so she and their kids could visit him frequently.
Moments before turning himself in, Harris took to Instagram to thank everyone who has stuck by his side and supported him from the very beginning. He then asked those who were tired of hearing about his case to unfollow him ASAP. Harris wrote, “I know for some of you it feels like we’ve been here before, it’s the never ending story or some of you are probably so sick of hearing about me and this case that you completely tapped out and just don’t give a F#%k anymore, maybe never did (For you, stop reading now and please unfollow Asap). This message is for all those that have supported me, grew with me, changed hearts, minds and perspectives with me. When I was young, hungry and closed minded I acted as such. Now I’m wiser but it’s wisdom born through pain, so that means enduring this will just make me wiser and stronger.”
FCI Allenwood Federal Prison is a minimum security prison where inmates are allowed to watch TV and the meal program is pretty decent (inmates are served a different meal everyday for 8 weeks).
