The day has finally arrived! After years of negotiating with Birdman, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V album finally sees the light of day. Serving as the followup to 2017’s D6: Reloaded, Tha Carter V comes laced with 23 tracks, and guest appearances from Mack Maine, Nicki Minaj, Nivea, his daughter, Reginae Carter, and many more. Production credits go to Mannie Fresh, Boi-1da, Vinylz, and a few others.
Earlier this week, Wayne released a video, where he cleared up all the confusion surrounding the release date of his 12th studio album, “I heard there was a misunderstanding about the release date of the C5. I heard y’all got mixed up and thought it was gonna get released like last week or something.”
“Well, I would like for you to know that since y’all stuck with me and hung in there anyway for like the past four or five years through all of this but uh on my birthday, I actually have something special. I will be releasing Tha Carter V on my birthday.”
“I always give y’all all of me, but with this album, I’m giving you more than me. You gotta always remember that this is years of work. This is four, five, six years of work that you’ll be listening to. I hope you enjoy it. You don’t have to love it, you don’t even have to like it, just hope you enjoy it.”
Wayne stated the following in regards to C5’s release, “I’m very much a perfectionist… I don’t know what it’s setting me up for. Some big comeback, or maybe some big fall back or whatever — but it’s setting me up for something, and I’m ready.”
