It’s no secret that R&B songstress Keyshia Cole, 34, has struggled with her mother, Frankie Lons’s, drug addiction since childhood. The world was given a behind the scenes look into Cole’s life when her reality show, Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is, premiered on BET in 2006. The show documented Cole’s life as a artist, mother, and daughter, who felt it was her duty to help her drug addicted mother get her life back on track. In 2008, the show ended after 3 seasons, leaving fans wondering if Lon’s was successful in fighting her demons.
Years later, in a heartfelt post on Instagram, Cole revealed that her mother is still struggling with drugs, but isn’t alone and now has the help of her sister, (who is a pastor). She also stated that she took a huge financial loss and almost went broke paying for numerous rehab centers for Frankie.
Cole wrote, “But I would like to send a personal THANK YOU to my aunt, I’ve tried so many times to get my mothers life back on track!!! Even went broke once putting all my money and house up to pay for moms rehab. Nothing has worked on my end. But my aunt has not given up!!!! No one knows my mother like u do!! Amen, praise the lord, and I kno you guys can relate to each other!!! She trusts u!!! She loves you!!! I kno of the bad nights you chase her down, trying to find her, scared for her life!! I kno how much u love her also!! I’m happy to hear my mother is gaining weight! Doing good. Sounding even better!!! Being around positivity!!! I love u guys!!!!”
It seems as though Frankie is taking her recovery serious this time around, best of luck to her!
