While performing at Club Rumors in Florida this past weekend, Kevin Gates violently kicked 18 year old Miranda Dixon in the chest for tugging on his shorts. Well, now the 29 year old “I Don’t Get Tired” rapper may have to deal with the consequences of his ruthless behavior. Police in Lakeland, Florida and the State Attorney’s office have reviewed the video showing Gates kicking Dixon, and are working together to have charges pressed against him. As of now, the specific charges are unknown.
The victims mother, Kristy Irelan, revealed that her daughter “passed out” after being kicked, and had to admit herself to the hospital where she underwent a CT scan. Irelan stated, “She told me that she was excited to see him and next thing she knows she was kicked in the chest and she was passed out. … It pisses me off. I don’t care who you are- an NFL player, just a regular person or a rapper- you don’t come to anybody’s home town and kick anybody- she did not deserve that.”
Dixon sat down for a interview with ABC Actions News and stated, “I don’t think anyone should be his fan, I really don’t. I forgive him. I just wish he would’ve never done it, but I do want to thank everyone out there for all your support.” There is currently a petition circulating with 850 signatures calling for Kevin Gates to be banned from performing in Florida.
The family has hired an attorney.
