Kanye West has never been one to bite his tongue or suppress his opinion. But one topic that hits home is the passing of his mother, Donda West. Kanye had a very close knit relationship with his mother, so when she died it was quite devastating for him. The “All Day” rapper recently broke his silence and opened up about her death. He spoke with Q Magazine, and revealed that he blames himself for her death stating, “If I had never moved to L.A. she’d be alive. I don’t want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears.”

When Yeezy moved to Los Angeles, his mother who was a English professor, followed him to manage his career. On November 10, 2007, Donda was rushed to Centinela Freeman Hospital in Marina del Rey, California where she passed away. Donda died from heart disease while suffering multiple post-operative factors following liposuction and breast-reduction surgery. In 2010, in a XXL essay Ye wrote, “When I moved to L.A.,she moved to L.A. And she wound up in a place that would eat her alive. Even if I stayed in New York, it wouldn’t have been like that. If I had lived in New York, she’d still be here.”

Kanye has made it clear how much he misses his late mother, but luckily he has wife Kim Kardashian and two year old North West in his life to give him joy. The power couple is expecting a baby boy in December.
