Joe Jackson has died.
At 3:30 a.m. this morning, Joe Jackson, passed away after a short battle with terminal cancer. Jackson reportedly died in a hospice in Las Vegas, where his wife, Katherine, as well as some of his children and grandchildren had been at his bedside.
Jackson was moved to hospice a day and a half ago after a close source told People that he was “not doing well.” A cause of death has not yet been released.
Joe had been dealing with health issues for quite some time. In 2015, his health took a turn for the worse after he suffered a stroke and 3 heart attacks. Doctors later implanted a pacemaker. In 2016, he was hospitalized due to a high fever, but he quickly recovered from that and was seen partying in Las Vegas a short time after.
Following Jackson’s death, daughter La Toya Jackson tweeted, “I will always love you! You gave us strength, you made us one of the most famous families in the world. I am extremely appreciative of that, I will never forget our moments together and how you told me how much you cared. #RIP Joe Jackson.”
Joe served as the patriarch of the Jackson family, and spent much of his time managing The Jackson 5, then Janet and Michael Jackson’s solo careers.
