I have some disappointing news ladies. Last January, news broke that J.Cole and his college sweetheart, Melissa Heholt, were engaged. That was the last we heard about the duo’s relationship (J. Cole isn’t one to put his personal life on blast). Like most people, I thought they had broken up or called off the wedding. Well, thanks to Creed director, Ryan Coogler, I no longer have to guess. J. Cole is in fact a married man.
On Monday, Cole sat down for an interview with Coogler during the MLKNow event in New York City. Coogler asked the 30 year old North Carolina rapper, “How did getting married change you, bro?” A stunned J. Cole responded with, “Oh, What is that?!” before letting out a nervous chuckle and confirming that he is indeed married. Coogler immediately apologized and admitted that he had never interviewed anyone before. Cole stated, “That was like one thing to not do. Nah, I’m just joking. It’s all good. Well they know now. That was cool though. That’s like a black history moment. They’re never gonna forget that.”
