iLoveMakonnen Says Fans Make It Difficult For Straight Artists To Support Gay Ones

iLoveMakonnen opens up about homophobia.

Back in 2017, iLoveMakonnen gave fans a glimpse into his personal life and revealed that he was gay. In a series of tweets, the “Tuesday” singer wrote, “Someone said to me next time they see me, they was gonna fuck me up, I said next time I see me, I’m gonna love me up.”

He added, “As a fashion icon, I can’t tell u about everybody else’s closet, I can only tell u about mine, and it’s time I’ve come out. And since y’all love breaking news, here’s some old news to break, I’m gay. And now I’ve told u about my life, maybe u can go [live] yours. Thank you for letting me be myself.❤”

Although Makonnen came out as a gay man, he wanted it to be known that he wasn’t interested in anyone that he worked with in the music industry, “Hip Hop is like some professional work shit. So it’s just like, hey, I’m not trying to sleep with any of y’all. So I don’t get why anybody have an issue with me. So, you know. It’s really nothing.”

Now, Makonnen has taken to social media (Twitter) once again to get a few things off of his chest, this time around he is blaming fans for making it hard for straight artists to support gay artists, “It’s a shame when y’all favorite artists can’t publicly support they favorite artist cus they afraid of the backlash they will get from their own fans for supporting an openly gay artist.”
