Megan Thee Stallion — Body

The Houston rapper’s long-awaited debut album has finally arrived, shedding some positive light on the world despite the ongoing doom and gloom 2020 has dished out. Good News encompasses that fiery panache we’ve come to love from Megan Thee Stallion. To start, she opens up the project with addressing the controversial shooting incident that happened earlier this year, with he who shall not be named, before transitioning into more lyrical onslaught that divulges into her ‘girls just wanna have fun’ mindset. “Body” is a high-energy release that puts Megan’s dance moves on full display: entrancing viewers with every step. Amidst 2020’s unforgiving ways, Megan Thee Stallion’s free-spirited disposition and sing-along strains are like rays of sunshine sent from above to heat up the winter.

DaBaby — Gucci Peacoat

After starting the week off strong with unveiling the music video for “BLIND” feat. Young Thug, DaBaby puts the fun on pause to pay homage to his older brother, Glenn Johnson, who recently past away. Shortly after returning from a well-needed social media hiatus, the Charlotte upstart debuts My Brother’s Keeper (Long Live G). A seven-track effort, the new EP immortalizes his older brother, who was found dead of a reported self-inflicted gunshot wound a few weeks back. “Gucci Peacoat” is the final adieu to his beloved relative. In short, the track finds DaBaby in a state of both disbelief and introspection, but it also serves as a fitting testament to the family-oriented nature of the superstar rapper.

Future & Lil Uzi Vert — Over Your Head

Frequent collaborators, Future and Lil Uzi Vert, are inseparable at this point — musically speaking. The pair of lauded MC’s link up to produce a sixteen-track album symbolic of their flashy lifestyle. Pluto x Baby Pluto — which has now received a fitting Deluxe treatment — is a medley of songs that have focus single potential if we’re being honest. At this point, not much has to be said, their respective catalog’s do all the talking. “Over Your Head” finds the duo dawning multiple high-fashion ensembles while on vacation, or this could just be another day in their abnormal lives, except this time around they brought along Hype Williams to document the madness — idk, but it’s definitely entertaining.

Sheck Wes — BEEN BALLIN

The furthest thing from the yearly NBA draft, it’s fair to say that Sheck Wes has “BEEN BALLIN.” Thematically speaking, the timing behind this release is impeccable, coming day-of the National Basketball Association’s annual event. With Wes’ whimsical sense of humor in living color, the video exposes what level of grit and determination is required to excel at the next level. “BEEN BALLIN” hits all the marks in terms of conveying that natural in-your-face vitality Sheck Wes celebrates sonically.

Big Jade — Respectfully feat. Beatking & Queendom Come

Alamo Records new signee has a mouthful to say, but to sum things up: she’s not doing shit for free. Big Jade is reppin’ Texas heavy in her latest release, finding the Beaumont native swaying between flex-filled prose and honest mentions. In the event that there was ever any initial confusion, Jade never needed a hand out, she has her own money, “Respectfully”. The 26-year-old budding rapper is showing much promise as a breakout talent, reigning in praise from the likes of Offset, Asian Doll and Dej Loaf.
