The world was elate and shocked upon Gucci Mane’s early release from prison yesterday. Back in January, a rep from Guwop’s camp announced that the 36 year old rapper would be released in 2017. Then in February, the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ inmate locator system revealed that Gucci would be a free man on September 20 of this year. So when Gucci’s longtime girlfriend, Keyshia Kaoir, posted a couple of Snapchat video’s announcing that Gucci was home, the moment seemed surreal.

Following Gucci’s release from the United States Penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana, Gucci’s lawyer, Drew Findling, explained why his client’s release date was moved up, stating, “The reason for his release date is myself and my legal team took the position that he was not properly deemed and then credited for the time he was incarcerated while waiting for his case to go to court. We filed a series of motions after which being considered, the court signed an order in agreement with us. Bailor was sent to the Bureau of Prisons and his sentence was adjusted accordingly and he was released.”

Findling also commented on the amount of love and support Guwop has received since being released, “The outpouring that I’ve been receiving from fans is insane from around the country; excited about [Gucci] being back and able to perform and record again. He’s probably 50 pounds lighter.” Making a note of Gucci’s new physique, Findling revealed, “He’s fit and trim. He’s in incredible physical shape and he’s ready for the next chapter of his life and excited about the next chapter in his life.”
