We won’t be seeing Bobby Shmurda anytime soon, but Gucci Mane will be a free man before the year is over. This is wonderful news for the Hip Hop community which hasn’t been the same since Gucci’s departure.
Last night, journalist Neil Martinez-Belkin revealed that Guwop would be released from prison, and according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ inmate locator system, the 36 year old Atlanta singer will in fact be released on September 20, 2016. Back in January, Gucci Mane’s record label, 1017 Records, announced that Gucci would be released from prison in March. However, they followed up announcing that Gucci wouldn’t be released on that date with no explanation as to why.
It’s been a long road for Guwop, who has only seven months left to serve behind bars. In May 2014, he plead guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in order to get a reduced sentence. He was sentenced to 39 months, and is currently finishing his sentence at United States Penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana. Despite being in jail, Gucci has released a slew of mixtapes and projects, even raking in an estimate $1.3 million.
