Yesterday, former GS9 member Rashid “Rasha” Derissant, 24, was sentenced to 98 1/3 years in prison. In April, Derissant and Alex “A-Rod” Crandon were convicted of murdering a 19 year old rival gang member in Brooklyn back in February of 2013, and attempting to kill three others.

Derissant was convicted on 22 counts including conspiracy in the second and fourth degrees, murder in the second degree, attempted murder in the second degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, assault in the first and second degrees, attempted assault in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and criminal use of a firearm in the first degree.

New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan announced the sentencing, stating, “The sentence imposed today reflects the terror that the defendant’s crimes instilled in his own community, and wherever else he engaged in wanton violence to settle scores. It also underscored the value of the lives lost and tragically damaged.”
