Giveon

With reigning in praise for the Drake-assisted ‘Chicago Freestyle’ release, which has debuted at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Giveon has further cemented his position as a notable mention amongst R&B’s new bellwethers of sound.

His critically-acclaimed debut EP TAKE TIME has amassed 2.5 million streams across all platforms since releasing earlier this year (March 27, 2020).

Most recently, the Long Beach native provided listeners with a soulful ode to his hometown with ‘THE BEACH’ visualizer. Directed by TKTK, the video finds Giveon serenading the city’s desolate streets by way of guitar accompaniment. The introductory parked car sequence makes a smooth transition into a wide-view angle of Polytechnic High School, which wasn’t mere coincidence.

Anyone from Long Beach recognizes that Poly is responsible for many NBA players, NFL players and Entertainers; Most notable being Snoop Dogg,” says Giveon about the historical context behind his creative direction for the video. “For that reason I take pride in being an alumni of LBP. I’m excited to be a part of moving the culture forward in the city and shining light on what LB is. It’s honestly iconic,” he continues

Giveon’s vocal range is a refreshing blend of melodic harmonies imbued with bittersweet remnants of an afflicted past.

The singer-songwriter defiantly possesses star quality, as best reflected throughout the extent of his eight track offering. Sonically, TAKE TIME is a formidable effort that’s relatively short in length but significant in terms of replay value, shedding light on Giveon’s knack for beat selection within his balanced soundscape.

As the world continues adjusting to the new normal associated with quarantined living, it’s exciting to see what other acoustic gifts remain dormant as part of Giveon’s dulcet arsenal.
