Despite his legal woes, Troy Ave is determined to move forward with his music. He may be behind bars right now, but his most anticipated mixtape is still set to drop today. The mixtape was originally titled “Real Vs. Fake”, however he has changed it to “Free Troy Ave” to reflect his current situation. Over the weekend, Troy dropped a new single, “Chuck Norris (Hoes N Gangstas)”, which will most likely appear on the mixtape. Every track on Free Troy Ave was recorded prior to the New York rapper getting arrested.
For those who aren’t up to par with what’s going on, I’ll explain. Troy was recently arrested and charged with attempted murder after surveillance showed him opening fire in a VIP green room at Irving Plaza. Three victims were injured, including Troy’s bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter who died from a gunshot wound to the stomach. Troy’s attorney maintains that his client is innocent, and is positive that he didn’t murder his own friend. Troy will remain behind bars until his trial begins.
