Kelvin Rafael Mejia died after a bet went wrong.
Earlier this week, a Dominican man died after chugging an entire bottle of tequila at a nightclub. Kelvin Rafael Mejia, 23, was enjoying a night out when one of his friends dared him to drink a bottle of tequila in one sitting for a $630 reward.
In a clip that has since gone viral, Mejia can be seen consuming tequila straight from the bottle in front of a crowd that seems to be cheering him on. After Mejia downs the last sip, he is instantaneously paid the $630.
Moments later, Mejia appears completely disoriented and his friends attempt to help him stand up just before he ends up collapsing to the floor. Mejia never regained consciousness and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Vacca Lounge reports that they played no role in Majia’s death. The venue released the following statement, “The only contests we ever do are dance contests or costume contests, with the award of bottle of champagne or other drink.”
Local media revealed that Mejia was a regular at the club and leaves behind a two month old baby.
