Fresh off of dropping What A Time To Be Alive with Future, Drizzy has sat with The Fader for his first interview in over a year. Drake was chosen as the face of the magazine’s 100th issue, and even opened up about what everyone’s been talking about all summer – ghostwriting allegations and his beef with Meek Mill. Drake admits he recorded “Charged Up” in response to Meek Mill’s Twitter rant, and he was expecting Meek to come back at him much quicker than he did.

But when Meek seemed to be at a standstill, it somewhat annoyed him. Drizzy stated, “This is a discussion about music, and no one’s putting forth any music,” Drake questions. “You guys are gonna leave this for me to do? This is how you want to play it? You guys didn’t think this through at all—nobody? You guys have high-ranking members watching over you. Nobody told you that this was a bad idea, to engage in this and not have something? You’re gonna engage in a conversation about writing music, and delivering music, with me? And not have anything to put forth on the table?”

Meek finally responded to Drake’s diss track in “Wanna Know”, but it didn’t make a statement nearly as big as Drake’s. The song has since been deleted from Meek’s Soundcloud. Drake’s “Back To Back” peaked at #27 on Billboard’s Hot 100 list.

In the interview, Drake also addressed the ghostwriting rumors stating, “I need, sometimes, individuals to spark an idea so that I can take off running. I don’t mind that. And those recordings—they are what they are. And you can use your own judgment on what they mean to you… It’s just, music at times can be a collaborative process, you know? Who came up with this, who came up with that—for me, it’s like, I know that it takes me to execute every single thing that I’ve done up until this point. And I’m not ashamed.”
