Details Emerge Regarding A$AP Yams Death

It has been reported that A$AP Yams, born Steven Rodriguez, was found unresponsive by his roommate in their home January 18. The roommate placed a call to 911, and Rodriguez was transported to Brooklyn’s Woodhull Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. A cause of death has not been determined yet.

Julie Bolcer, a spokesperson for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of NYC spoke with The Fader stating “Following the examination and manner of death are pending further studies.” She also revealed that a more thorough autopsy report is expected in the next few weeks.

California rapper Joey Fatts took to his Twitter January 19 tweeting “My brother ain’t die from no overdose. Fu** all you bi*** ni****. My brother had severe sleep apnea. And was killing you fu** boys daily.”

Many have speculated the fact that Yams died from a drug overdose. Yams never steered shy of his love for “lean” on social media.

A$AP Mob member A$AP Ant addressed rumors of Yams death stating “It ain’t no overdose. People stop saying overdose ‘cause that’s not what it is. It’s not an overdose. People keep talking ‘bout he overdosed on Xanax and shit like that, lean. No, that’s not what happened at all.”

A$AP Ant also addressed his frustration over people reposting a photo via Instagram of a distraught A$AP Rocky at the hospital where AS$P Yams died.
