Childish Gambino cancels his 2018 Australian tour.
After breaking his foot during a show in Dallas, Texas, Childish Gambino has been forced to cancel his Australian tour. Via Instagram, Gambino released the following statement, “I’m not ready to put on 100% shows. Apologies to the fans. I will be back soon.”
The tour was slated to kick off on November 8th at Perth’s HBF Stadium, before heading to Melbourne on November 10, and the Sydney Opera House on November 14th and 15th. He was also scheduled to headline the Spilt Milk festival, but he has now been replaced with Travis Scott.
In a statement, Spilt Milk said, “Spilt Milk is devastated to share the news that Childish Gambino has cancelled his upcoming UK, European and Australian performances due to an injury he sustained last month.”
“We are gutted that Gambino can’t make it and we know that many of you are as disappointed as we are. Our thoughts are with Donald and we wish him a speedy recovery. An artist the calibre of Childish Gambino can never truly be replaced so close to event day, but we will be announcing an exciting line up addition shortly.”
Gambino’s promoter, Live Nation, hopes to reschedule the missed tour dates.
Fam Rothstein, the co-principal of the creative collective Wolf + Rothstein, previously said the following about Gambino’s situation, “This is America tour is postponed, not canceled. My guy played through the pain but has to sit some dates out. Back before the years over.”
