Jimmy Wopo has died at 21.
The Hip Hop community has suffered two devastating losses in one day. Hours after XXXTentacion was pronounced dead, it was revealed that Pittsburgh rapper Jimmy Wopo had been killed in a double shooting in his hometown.
At approximately 4:22 p.m., police responded to a call in the 2400 block of Wylie Avenue for a reported shooting. Upon arriving to the scene, officers found Wopo and another male inside a vehicle in the middle of the street suffering from gunshot wounds. They were both transported to the hospital, where Wopo passed away. The other victim is currently in critical condition.
Wopo’s manager, Taylor Maglin, confirmed the saddening news via Facebook, “I lost my brother today and it’s the worst feeling in the world. He was destined for greatness and he wanted the best for his friends, family and community. We lost a great person today, but just know I will do everything in my power to make his memory live on forever. Love you bro #LongLiveWopo.”
Sonny Digital, Pusha T, and Juicy J, and more have all taken to Twitter to pay tribute to Wopo.
Stay tuned for updates on this case.
R.I.P. Jimmy Wopo.
