Over the weekend, Atlanta rapper Blac Youngsta, born Sam Benson, was briefly detained outside of a Wells Fargo bank after withdrawing $200,000 from his account. Youngsta was allegedly exiting the bank when police handcuffed him and sat him on the ground of the bank’s parking lot. Youngsta told Alive11 news, “They come bum rushing me at the car, put me on the ground, putting guns to my head, so I’m like “What I’d do”. A lady was like I’m not supposed to have…$200,000 on me. I’m like, “I’m a millionaire. How can I not have $200,000 on me?”

According to Wells Fargo, Benson does not have an account with them, nor did he make an withdrawals. Wells Fargo Southeast Communication Manager, Crystal Drake, released the following statement, “Mr. Benson is not an account holder with us. He did not enter our store nor did he make any withdrawals. A fraudulent incident did occur in the store so in the best interest of our customer, we reported it to law enforcement right away and as a result, a suspect was apprehended and the customer was not the victim of fraud. Mr. Benson was not a party to the fraudulent incident. We’re confident that our description of the suspect was appropriate. It is documented in the police report. We encourage you to review it.”

An insider revealed that Benson was holding money that was withdrawn from his manager’s account, which totaled close to $70,000, not $200,000. Benson also claimed that the police officers who arrested him took $100,000 of his money to review for evidence, which was later returned to him at the police station. Atlanta Police Sargent, Warren Pickard, told 11Alive that police had not confiscated any of his money.

Originally, officers were called to Wells Fargo after a “black man” tried to cash a $24,000 fraudulent check. Charles Darnell was later arrested and charged with first degree forgery. Benson has been ruled out as a suspect.
