Rapper Beanie Sigel, 40, real name Dwight Grant has been released from the hospital after an intensive month long stay. December 5, Sigel was shot in the stomach outside of his New Jersey home. Philadelphian rapper, and Sigel’s friend Neef Buck confirmed the news on his Instagram @neef_buck where he posted a picture of Sigel covered in a blanket being helped from a wheelchair into a waiting vehicle. The caption of the photo read “Alhamdulillah !!! Masha allah !!! MY BOY IS HOME !!! @beaniesigelsp”.
A source close to Sigel reported that recovery has been taxing and painful. The source also revealed that Sigel had just been taken off a breathing machine and stated “He’s not doing so well. It’s a really bad injury”. According to Sigel’s attorney, he had just taken his children to school and was an unintended target. Local New Jersey police stated Sigel was simply in the “wrong place at the wrong time”.
As of mid-December the investigation remained “wide open”. Police are still investigating several persons of interest, including Sigel’s sister-in-law. They have not yet named a suspect.
Sigel, who is no stranger to the law, was released from jail August 14th after serving time on drug possession and tax evasion charges.
