A suspect has been apprehended in the murder of Kid Cali.
On Saturday, 19 year old Kenny Birdine was arrested and charged in the slaying of up and coming Los Angeles rapper Kid Cali. Kid Cali, born Justin Lishey, 30, was shot and killed at a Granada Hills pool party last month. The Los Angeles Police Department has charged Birdine with 1st degree murder, with his bail being set at $3,065,000.
Cali was reportedly shot six times in the backyard of a house located in the 12400 block of Longacre Avenue on August 20. Two other victims also suffered gunshot wounds, but were lucky enough to survive their injuries. At this time, detectives believe that the gunfire started between two rival gangs. It unclear if Cali was targeted, or simply caught in the crossfire.
In the past, Birdine has been charged with two misdemeanors.
