Anderson Paak’s “Best Teef In The Game Tour” Rocks The House in ATL

by Derrius Edwards

Anderson Paak performed in front of a full-house at Cadence Bank Amphitheatre in observance of the Best Teef In The Game Tour with support from Chicagoan NoName and the self-proclaimed “Brainfeeder” Thundercat.

The energy throughout the show was insane and featured an array of music that demonstrated the extent of each artists musical influence.

Thundercat’s infectious aura combined with an impressive stage presence effortlessly conveyed the adequate tone for what to anticipate from forthcoming acts as the night progressed. Despite the inclement weather bringing a momentary halt to seating arrangements, fans were still just as eager and attentive to indulge in musical exhilaration.

Next up was NoName, who gave further meaning to the term “incognito” throughout her set in an interesting fashion. Her resounding decree of individualism and self-worth served  as the most appropriate prelude to match Anderson’s irrefutably captivating set.

As the lights dimmed for an apparent 5-7 minutes in preparation for Anderson & the Free Nationals, momentum and curiosity both ran amok amongst fans, yearning to see what song they will sing their hearts out to first.

To everyone’s surprise, Anderson was actually introduced by a soothing saxophone solo that echoed throughout the theater as everyone stared in amazement.

Paak’s versatility was on full display as he transitioned from behind his drum set to eloquently dashing from one side of the stage to another, while displaying his elaborate footwork. Aside from performing music off of his most recent Ventura project, Anderson also decided to get in his bag and implement some of his widely-known tracks such as “TINTS” , “Am I Wrong” and “Come Down“.

My favorite takeaway from this show would have to be Anderson’s inclusiveness when it comes to his set. Throughout the extent of his performance he continuously made the conscious effort to praise the Free Nationals for their unwavering support & talent. After being fortunate to witness the magic live in action on a few occasions, I can attest to the fact that their chemistry as a unit only enhances per each show.

Definitely looking forward until the next time.
