Former N.WA. (Ni**** Wit Attitudes) member Ice Cube, born O’Shea Jackson premiered the trailer for the biopic “Straight Outta Compton” at a recent concert in Sydney, Australia. The biopic will show the iconic rap group N.W.A’s rise to fame.
The trailer is opened by Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, who are both producers on the biopic. They have teamed up with F. Gary Gray, who will be the director. Gray has directed Friday and The Negotiator.
The trailer was shot in black and white and starts off with an introduction showing Dr. Dre and Ice Cube in the car cruising the streets of their old stomping ground in Compton, California. While riding Dr. Dre stated “Everything we was going through in the ‘80s with police people are going through right now”. Ice Cube chimed in adding “We put it all in the music, all our frustration and anger, our music was like our weapon”.
Once the introduction ends, the trailer then begins to show N.W.A’s working on music and gaining a fan base.
Ice Cube’s real son O’Shea Jackson Jr. will play a young Ice Cube, Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre, Jason Mitchell as Eazy E, Aldis Hodge as MC Ren, and lastly Neil Brown Jr. as DJ Yella.
Straight Outta Compton hits theaters on August 14th.
