Kobe Bryant Memorial To Be Held

by Yellah Bone

Kobe Bryant’s life will be celebrated.

On February 24th, a memorial service for Kobe Bryant, his 13 year old daughter Gianna, and the 7 other victims killed in the tragic helicopter crash that occurred last month will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. There is some significance behind the chosen date – Bryant’s jersey was No. 24, while Gianna wore No. 2.

Kobe’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, made an official announcement via Instagram.

A close source revealed there will be no procession before the memorial, which is expected to draw thousands of fans and supporters from around the world. The memorial will conclude just in time to allow a previously scheduled Clippers game against the Memphis Grizzlies to take place.

Bryant was killed on January 26, when the helicopter he was traveling in crashed into a mountainside in Calabasas, California. He was heading to a basketball tournament at his Mamba Sports Academy, where he coached Gianna’s team.

The other victims on the plane were Gianna’s teammates Alyssa Altobelli and Payton Chester, Alyssa’s parents, John and Keri, Payton’s mother, Sarah, assistant girls basketball coach Christina Mauser, and helicopter pilot, Ara Zobayan.

Both Michael Jackson and Nipsey Hussle’s memorials have been held at the Staples Center. The arena seats 20,000 people for non-sports events.
