XXXTentacion Says He’s Terminating His Deal With Capitol Records
XXXTentacion is cutting ties with Capitol Records.
Just last week, it was reported that XXXTentacion signed a $6 million deal with Capitol Records. However, Wednesday night, the 19 year old South Florida rapper took to social media to announce that he is now parting ways with the label.
In an Instagram story, XXX wrote, “Terminating my deal with “capitol records””. Underneath it he wrote, “I am not a “signed” artist and I will not be releasing music for a very long time. I’m tired of this shit.”
Apparently, the deal was a distribution agreement between X’s Bad Vibes Forever imprint and Capitol Music Group’s indie distributor, Caroline. According to Billboard, the contract would cover yet-to-be-released material.
Back in July, for unknown reasons, XXX revealed that he would be stepping out of the spotlight for awhile, “I’m going to disappear for a little while. I love you all.” A month prior to that announcement, XXXTentacion postponed the remainder of his Revenge tour after his cousin was shot and killed.
XXX’s debut studio album, 17, was released in August and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 200.
