Nicki Minaj Supporting Her Brother “100 Percent” During Child Sex Abuse Trial
Nicki Minaj is in her brother’s corner.
Last week, jury selection began in the child sex abuse trial of Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj, 38. Maraj is expected to be tried for three weeks in Long Island, New York, on charges that he sexually abused a child younger than 13 years old. Maraj has since denied the shocking allegations.
In December 2015, Maraj was arrested – according to online court records, he now faces charges of predatory sex assault against a child, course of sexual conduct and acting in a manner likely to injure a child. Maraj has pleaded not guilty, but if convicted, he is facing life in prison.
Maraj is currently free on $100,000 bond, which was allegedly backed by two of Minaj’s homes. Minaj has yet to comment on the allegations against her brother, but Maraj’s defense attorney, David Schwartz, has revealed that the “Anaconda” rapper supports her brother “100 percent”, and may attend part of her brother’s trial.
Schwartz released the following statement to Newsday – proclaiming his client’s innocence, “These are a bunch of lies. There’s a big, big motive to lie here which I can’t get into right now. But these are false accusations.”
Stay tuned for updates on this case.
