Nicki Minaj Brother’s Sentencing Hearing Postponed
Jelani Maraj’s sentencing has been postponed to 2018.
Last month, Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj, was found guilty of predatory sexual assault against a child and endangering the welfare of a child. He is facing 25 years to life in prison.
Initially, Maraj was set to be sentenced on December 14th, but according to Bossip, his lawyer, David Schwartz, informed the courts that he plans to file a motion to vacate the verdict altogether.
Maraj says the victim’s rape claims are false and are a part of her mother’s plan to extort $24 million from Minaj and ruin his life. Schwartz believes that the victim’s mother could’ve planted evidence in an effort to set up his client.
But the young victim stated otherwise, and shared gruesome details of the multiple times that Maraj raped her in her testimony, “It was a Saturday morning. I had went to him to go say “good morning”. I had hugged him as usual. I went to go lie next to him as I usually do. When I did that, he told me to go close the door. He told me to take off my pants. Then he told me to come under the covers with him and he started caressing me.”
A judge will rule on the motion in early 2018.
