[BREAKING] Meek Mill Sentenced To 2-4 Years In State Prison, Jay-Z Chimes In
Meek Mill is heading back to jail.
After violating the terms of his probation, Meek Mill will spend a minimum of two years behind bars. On Monday, Judge Genece E. Brinkley ruled that the Philadelphia rapper carelessly violated his probation on a number of occasions, before sentencing him to two to four years in state prison.
Meek tried pleading with the judge for 40 minutes prior to his sentencing, “I’m human. I’m not perfect. I’m asking for mercy. You gave me the ladder to do what I have to do to prevail in my struggle. I made it this far, I can’t really go back and start over.”
Judge Brinkley wouldn’t budge, citing his two arrests this year, his failure to comply with a court order restricting his travel, and for failing to complete his community service to her liking, Brinkley stated, “I’ve been trying to help you since 2009. You basically thumbed your nose at me.”
In the midst of this all, Jay Z has come forward to support Meek Mill and address the judge’s decision, which he believes is “unjust and heavy handed”, “The sentence handed down by the Judge — against the recommendation of the Assistant District Attorney and Probation Officer — is unjust and heavy handed. We will always stand by and support Meek Mill, both as he attempts to right this wrongful sentence and then in returning to his musical career.”
Hov’s Roc Nation company manages Meek Mill.
Meek’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, believes the judge has a vendetta against his client, and plans on appealing the judgement.
