Meek Mill has been charged with reckless endangerment.
Last night, Meek Mill was arrested in New York City and charged with reckless endangerment. Apparently, the night before, the MMG rapper was weaving in and out of traffic on his four wheeler and popping wheelies, all while broadcasting his shenanigans live on Instagram.
After watching the video, authorities tracked him down on the corner of 110th Avenue and Dyckman Street, and took him into custody.
It wasn’t long before footage of Meek arrest hit the internet. In the video, Meek can be heard asking “What I do?” The officers respond, “You weren’t riding on a motorcycle yesterday? Yesterday, right? I got pictures of you, I got videos of you running up and down.”
Then Meek replies, “I just came from a basketball game. I just want to know my rights.” One of Meek’s friends can be heard in the background saying, “They say it’s ’cause he was riding a dirt bike yesterday.”
Meek lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, says his client was targeted because he is famous, “That level of investigation is normally reserved for heinous crimes, not petty offenses like doing a wheelie on the street where you’re endangering no one’s life but your own. It really stinks of obvious targeting an individual who is a celebrity and maybe who law enforcement don’t like, and it’s not what the system is supposed to be about.”
Tacopina added, “It really stinks of obvious targeting an individual who is a celebrity and maybe who law enforcement don’t like, and it’s not what the system is supposed to be about. If his name was John Smith, he wouldn’t have even been arrested. You could go to 110th St. and Dyckman right now and you’ll see 10 kids popping wheelies on their bikes. Nobody gets arrested.”
Meek Mill is scheduled to appear in court today.
