Mary J. Blige owes Uncle Sam a whopping $6.5 million.
The past couple of months have been quite troubling for Mary J. Blige. In the midst of a very public and nasty divorce with Martin “Kendu” Isaacs, it has been revealed that Blige is behind on her taxes.
On August 8, the income and expense declaration was filed in an Los Angeles court, and revealed the singers income, as well as the fact that she owes $6.5 million in back taxes from 2008 to 2016.
According to the documents, Blige makes $326,930 a month, and has been ordered to temporarily pay Isaacs $30,000 a month in spousal support. Isaacs originally sought $130,000 a month.
After it was revealed that Blige was divorcing Isaacs, her rep released the following statement, “Ms. Blige is saddened to say [that] it is true that she has filed for divorce, saying sometimes things don’t work how we hoped they would… but, there is a divine plan and a reason for everything.”
“Mary will continue writing and working on her album, which is due out later this year along with her world tour. She thanks and appreciates her fans for their support and love through this very difficult emotional time.”
Blige is currently embarked on her Strength Of A Woman tour, which wraps up on September 9 in San Francisco.
