Gucci Mane Leaving Atlantic Records In 2018, Will Drop New Mixtape Every Other Day
Gucci Mane is going independent.
While currently on tour with The Weeknd, Gucci Mane took to Twitter to reveal to fans that he plans to split with longtime recording home Atlantic Records at the top of next year.
Since being released from prison last year after serving a three year stint, Guwop has had the best year yet of his career, working with everyone from E-40 to Selena Gomez. Gucci is ready to be “100% independent” as he labels it.
In promotion of his upcoming album, Mr. Davis, which is slated for an October 17 release, Gucci also mentioned in his tweet that he has plans to release new music every other day next year as part of his new identity. La Flare’s tweet read, “2018 I’m going 100 percent independent and dropping a mixtape ever other day.”
Many are citing the decision is based on his displeasure with the new direction Atlantic Records is taking with signing popular social media acts. The label recently released longtime acts like Gucci’s cousin, Waka Flocka Flame, and announced newly signed acts like social media sensation Danielle Bregoli, better know as Bhad Bhabie.
Gucci Mane recently hit the studio with popular social media talent-turned-recording artist, Jake Paul.
